MG recently announced it is stepping into the ute business with its badge-engineered Extender. However, those looking for local news may be disappointed as parent company SAIC has confirmed the Extender will only be available in the Thai market.
That’s not so bad though, as the Extender is an LDV T60 in everything but name. SAIC added that the T60 will be the only ute available in NZ from the company.
The LDV T60 was the first Chinese vehicle to achieve a five-star ANCAP safety rating at the first attempt and is available through LDV dealers in New Zealand with a 2.8-litre turbodiesel powerplant.
All models are 4WD, with either single- or double-cab configurations, cab/chassis with alloy or galvanized steel or traditional wellside decks in either Elite or Luxury trim levels. Options of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions are available, with pricing starting at $26,990 plus GST.
